2025 Chili Cookoff
The HISC Chili Cookoff was held on Sunday, February 16th at the outdoor party patio of our Commodore Eduardo Rabadan on Lake Boca. This is a wonderful venue. Our sailors really enjoy being outside by the water on a lovely Florida night. Some members even came by boat and anchored in Lake Boca.
Originally, the Chili Cookoff was scheduled to be the evening event following the second day of racing during the Fellowship Cup. Unfortunately, Sunday’s race was cancelled due to heavy winds and seas. Despite the lack of actual racing, the club members from HISC, PBSC and Castaway were still ready to indulge in fellowship and chili. Approximately 50 people were in attendance.
Only six contestants participated in the Chili contest. Chip Buttonow took third place. Tom Garvey placed second and the First Place trophy was awarded to Mike Micelli. Interestingly, Mike won the chili contest in 2020 as well. Wonder if it was the same recipe?
As always, club members provided more than just chili. We grilled some hot dogs, there was salad, corn bread, and lots of desserts. No one left hungry.
