Slow down in Miami!

I know, we're sailors, we don't go fast on even a good day of sailing.  But we're probably less than 1% of the boaters in South Florida, the rest are power boaters ( I'm being nice :)   )

The new 'Rule' is, as always, lengthy but it boils down to 'Boats have to slow down in areas around Miami.' ( That's my reading on the new Rule )

Slow down??? Here's the definition from the text of the new rule.

Definitions. As used in this section, slow speed means the speed at which a vessel proceeds when it is fully off plane, completely settled in the water and not creating excessive wake. Due to the different speeds at which vessels of different sizes and configurations may travel while in compliance with this definition, no specific speed is assigned to slow speed. A vessel is not proceeding at slow speed if it is:

(1) On plane;

(2) In the process of coming up on or coming off plane; or

(3) Creating an excessive wake.

So, 'no specific speed is assigned to slow speed'  and if any of our club members can break that rule, then beware! 'They' will be looking for you!
