Winds 30 knots
Youth Sailing completed the Fall session on 11 Nov. As I write this article, the winds outside are 30 to 45 mph. The forecast was for 25 to 30. This pretty much sums up the fall youth sailing season. It’s been one of the windiest Falls I can remember. Luckily our class was was able to beat the forecasts and had reasonable conditions. We only cancelled one class. Which was the same weekend the big kids cancelled the Nederlanden Regatta for the second time.
New to this class was the Pram cross country. Led by Jenny Kunz, the Pram fleet went on a sailing tour of the lake at Quiet Waters. What a brilliant idea! The confidence and sense of independence these kids gained by sailing out of sight of Mom and Dad was exactly the experience we are trying to give these kids. Kudos to Jenny.
Jamie and I will now begin the process up setting the 2024 season. The club calendar will be finalized soon. Sign up for members will open at the January general meeting.
Not a photo of our class. Way above our skill level.
